As an alternative to inflatable pneumatic rubber fenders, foam fenders have become increasingly popular in the market in recent years. Although their production and transportation costs are relatively high, they are increasingly recognized and accepted by docks and ports due to their stable working performance and low maintenance costs. Foam fenders are mainly installed in ports or docks to protect the side of the ship when it is berthed.
1. Stable working performance
The foam-filled fender is based on a steel center string. The main structure is made of high-density EVA elastic material, and the surface is covered with high-strength nylon cord and polyurea coating. The surface is smooth and flat. The sphere can quickly return to its original shape after being hit and squeezed by external objects.
2,Low maintenance cost and long service life.
Since the pneumatic rubber fender is iar inflated, it is necessary to check whether its internal pressure is stable every 3 months and refill air in time to ensure normal operation. Since the foam-filled fender is filled with solid foam material, it does not need to be checked regularly. And even if the fender body is punctured or slightly damaged, it will not affect its performance.
3. Higher safety factor
Pneumatic rubber fenders have the risk of explosion in the case of excessive squeezing, so the fender body needs to be equipped with a safety valve to release pressure to prevent accidents. Foam fenders do not have any such risks.
In addition, the tire chain protective cover on the surface of the pneumatic fender is more likely to cause scratches or black marks on the hull.
4. Beautiful appearance, multiple colors available
Pneumatic fenders are mainly black rubber, and there is a risk of leaving marks on the ship hull. The foam fenders are sprayed with white, red, yellow, gray, black and other colors. The polyurea material does not smudge or leave marks, and will not have any impact on the hull.
